Peskov: West stole a lot of Russian assets and property

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the collective West has stolen many Russian assets, including gold and foreign exchange reserves.

Peskov told reporters: “You know, in general, many Russian assets are now simply stolen by certain countries belonging to what we call the collective West. Including our gold and foreign exchange reserves. These are completely illegal actions and contrary to international law. This is nothing more than an actual encroachment on property, in this case state and private property.”

He added that the idea of confiscating Russian property in favor of Ukraine is a new step in violation of all existing laws.

He explained: “This destroys the foundations of the existing system of economic relations in the world. The adoption of decisions similar to those adopted in Europe would be another step in violation of all the rules and norms of international law. Undoubtedly, we will look for ways to counteract this. “

Last week, EU leaders instructed the European Commission to prepare proposals for using frozen Russian assets to rebuild Ukraine.
