Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the issue of Western sanctions against Moscow and their consequences for the EU countries, as well as the subsequent negative impact on European countries.
The Russian official pointed out that energy markets are suffering from a crisis, especially in Europe, where anti-Russian measures have led to a real crisis.
“We see how the energy markets are in a state of (boiling) fever, as the crisis is mainly in Europe. These anti-Russian measures taken (in the European Union) have led to a very deep crisis,” Peskov told reporters on Friday.
The official added: “The status quo has been achieved because the Europeans bought LNG, including from the United States, for a lot of money, at high prices that are not justified by anything. American companies are getting richer and European taxpayers are getting poorer. Let’s see how the oil issues will develop if such ridiculous decisions are made.
Peskov added that “Russia is exploring all options, and there are alternative scenarios for the development of the situation, but it is safe to say that the increase in Russian gas prices will lead to great instability in the oil markets.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also warned of the consequences of the G-7 imposing a ceiling on the price of a barrel of Russian oil and said the move would lead to significant market destabilization.
