Peskov: Putin does not plan to come to Kaliningrad

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today, Thursday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no plans to visit Kaliningrad at this time.

When asked by a journalist about the possibility of a visit by President Putin to Kaliningrad in the near future, Peskov replied: “In the near future, everything is possible, first of all. As for Kaliningrad, there are no plans for such trips yet. president.”

In response to a question about the Kremlin’s position in connection with the calls of a number of Russian politicians, including the governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov, for a complete ban on the import of goods into Russia and their export from Russia through the Baltic countries, Peskov replied: “For us, this is a very important topic, and we are actively working on it. For now, of course, we are hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.”

Commenting on Alikhanov’s statements on this matter, Peskov said: “Naturally, the district and its leadership are also preparing their proposals on possible actions in case other measures are ineffective. This is a completely normal practice.”
