Peskov: Contacts with the European Commission on Kaliningrad will be continued

The press secretary of the President of Russia said that the work and communication with the European Commission on transit to the Kaliningrad region will continue, as there are a number of issues that need to be resolved through dialogue.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov added: “In any case, work and communication will continue, because there are still a number of issues that need to be resolved through dialogue.”

Earlier, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, said that the problem of transit to Kaliningrad had been solved by 80%.

Yesterday, on Wednesday, the European Commission published a clarification on the sanctions, which states that rail transit to Kaliningrad is allowed, but with a number of conditions.

The European Commission said that the transit of Russian goods subject to sanctions is still prohibited by road transport – trucks, and travel by rail is allowed subject to the necessary supervision.
