Commenting on the auction of Dmitry Muratov’s Nobel medal to help refugees, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that any contribution to this cause can only be welcomed.
“As you know, a lot of people help refugees from Ukraine who come to Russia. And there are more and more of them. And those who provide all possible assistance have a really open heart. children,” Peskov added in an interview with reporters.
Notably, Novaya Gazeta editor-in-chief Dmitry Muratov sold his Nobel Peace Prize medal at auction for $103.5 million.
“All the money we receive today, we will transfer to UNICEF,” Muratov said before the start of the auction, which took place in the United States, explaining that this organization promised him that all proceeds from the sale would go to countries where there are refugee children from Ukraine, including Poland, Russia, Germany, Moldova and Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. If we manage to raise a large amount, some of it can be distributed to refugee children in Africa and Laos.”
