party source "Likud": We will not support US visa law

A source in the Israeli Likud party said the party would not support the US visa law as it reduces pressure on Palestinian travelers.

A source close to Likud MP Yoav Kish said his party would not promote the law, pointing out that the Likud-led opposition would not support the bill even if an agreement was reached between the opposition parties and the coalition on the issue. which sets the date for the Election bill.

The source pointed out that “the law, which was drafted with the participation of the Ministry of the Interior, headed by Ayelet Shaked, is problematic because it reduces the pressure on Palestinian Americans who want to cross the Israeli border.”

The US is requesting some administrative changes to consider Israel’s entry into the Visa Waiver Program, including the creation of a database for airlines to record passenger information in line with standard practice in the US and Europe.

The United States has also asked Israel to ease entry restrictions for Palestinian Americans who wish to fly through Israel on their way to the West Bank.
