Paris Saint-Germain were crowned French League champions after a 1-1 draw against hosts Strasbourg in a meeting that brought them together on Saturday night, the penultimate 37th round of the Ligue 1 competition.
Argentine star Lionel Messi scored in favor of the Parisian team by the 59th minute, and then the French striker Kevin Gameiro equalized in favor of the hosts in the 79th minute of the match.
After this draw, Paris Saint-Germain increased their lead to 85 points to ensure the title was retained as it fell out of reach of the closest pursuers, which are Lance Club, in second place with 81 points.
Paris Saint-Germain won the title for the second time in a row and the eleventh time in their history to set a record, with a title difference from runner-up Saint-Étienne who won 10 titles, the last one in 1981.
While Strasbourg is fifteenth in the standings with 40 points to avoid relegation to the second degree.
