Nice, who finished fifth in the French Football League last season, have announced an official contract with Swiss coach Lucien Favre to take over as replacement for Christophe Galtier.

“Christophe Galtier will no longer be in charge of Nice’s first team,” Nice said in a statement on Monday. “The team’s resumption of training this Monday was under the leadership of Lucien Favre, whose return the club is proud to announce.”

As for Nice owner Briton Jim Ratcliffe, in the same statement, he said: “I am very happy to have Lucien Favre back. He is an experienced coach who has had success in the German league and also here at Nice.

“Wherever he goes, he commands respect and appreciation. His way of developing the teams he manages is something we admire and is in line with our vision of the style of play we want from Nice.

Favre, 64, previously coached Nice from 2016 to 2018 but has not managed a team since being sacked by Borussia Dortmund in December 2020.

Nice is holding a press conference today to introduce their new coach.

On the other hand, former Nice manager Galtier is a Paris Saint-Germain managerial candidate to replace Argentinean Maurizio Pochettino, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of the French capital club, hinted in an interview with Le Parisien newspaper. last week, when he said: “We hope to quickly reach an agreement with Nice, which we have great respect for and its president, Jean-Pierre Revere.”
