Official.. Postponement of the African Championship of Nations and changes to the Champions League final system

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced today, Sunday, the postponement of the start of the African Cup of Nations 2023, which is to be held in Côte d’Ivoire.

At its meeting in Morocco, the CAF decided to reschedule the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire, to January 2024 instead of June 2023.

This postponement favors the teams participating in the Qatar 2022 World Cup as the African Nations qualifier rounds will be postponed to give them a good opportunity to prepare.

CAF also decided during the meeting in Morocco to play the African Champions League and Confederation Cup final in a two-legged home-and-away system, instead of the one-match system that has been used for the past three years.

The 2023-2024 season has also been set as the start date for the African Super.
