Official.. Napoli announce the signing of Sirigo

Italy veteran Salvatore Sirigu, released from his contract after Genoa’s relegation to Italy’s second division, has moved to Napoli, who will take part in the Champions League this season.

As usual, the announcement of the 35-year-old’s inclusion was made by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who tweeted: “Welcome Salvatore!”

The former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper (from 2011 to 2016) is set to replace current Naples goalkeeper Alex Mere or one of the two goalkeepers nominated for the southern team, according to media reports, namely Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea or a Costa Rican Keylor Navas of Saint Germain.

Sirigo, who won the European Cup last summer with his country (28 matches), played 246 matches in the Italian league, but his experience did not prevent Genoa from relegation to the second division at the end of last season.
