Official: Moroccan Nayef Akard from the French League to the English Premier League

West Ham United football club announced today, on Monday, the official contract of Moroccan footballer Nayef Akard from French club Rennes.

West Ham club The Hammers, through their official Twitter account, posted a video clip in which their new player, Atlas Lions defender Nayef Akard, introduced to its fans, commenting: “Welcome to West Ham United.”

Naif Akard, 26, has joined the Hammers on a contract that runs until 2027, and, according to UK network Sky Sports, the deal was worth £30m, not including bonuses and incentives.

This season, Akard has made 31 appearances in the French league with Rennes and scored two goals.

Nayef Akard began his professional career with Al Fath Al Rabat under current Wydad Casablanca coach Walid Rekraki, reaching the local cup final in 2015 and becoming league champion in 2016.

In 2018, he joined French side Dijon and played with them for two seasons before landing at Rennes in the summer of 2020, where he defended his colors in 66 games, scoring 5 goals between 2020 and 2022.

Akard also defended in the colors of the Moroccan national team in 25 matches in which he scored one goal.
