Milan, Italy’s third football club and last season’s champions, announced today, Monday, the extension of manager Stefano Pioli’s contract until June 2025.
Pioli, who took over the technical management of AC Milan in October 2019, was due to expire in June of the following year.
Pioli’s contract extension, which last season led Milan to the title for the 19th time in its history and the first time in 11 years, especially since the 2010-2011 season, came on the eve of the Lombard side hosting the Austrian Salzburg. in the last sixth round of the Champions League group stage.
The 57-year-old Pioli has the opportunity for the first time since the 2013-2014 season to lead Milan to the final prize of the prestigious continental competition, having won the title seven times.
A draw with Salzburg is enough for Milan to reserve the second map for Group E and catch up with leaders Chelsea.
