Official Chelsea announce the signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City

England international Raheem Sterling has become the first player to sign for Chelsea since being acquired by a consortium led by American Todd Boehle, ending a seven-year era at Manchester City.

“England star Raheem Sterling has joined Chelsea from Manchester City on a five-year deal,” the Blues said in a statement on their website.

Sterling, who has played 77 international matches, will move for £47.5m, according to sports network Sky, while other reports suggested a £50m deal.

Sterling has won the English Premier League title four times with City since moving from Liverpool in 2015 and played a key role in the team in his first season at the Etihad Stadium.

The English winger has scored 131 goals in 337 appearances for City.

Sterling’s position at Manchester City took a turn for the worse with the arrival of Jack Grealish last season and the arrival of Phil Foden, a graduate of the club’s academy.
