Norway to Factor in Ukraine Situation for Next Year’s Budget

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Jarstor said that next year’s budget in his country should take into account all the difficulties arising from the situation in Ukraine.

“People’s safety will be guaranteed in next year’s budget. The safety of people is what motivates us,” Storr quotes NRK.

“These are difficult times because of the conflict in Ukraine, and it is also important to ensure prosperity. This applies to those who depend on the financial support of the state,” Store said.

After unexpectedly high inflation, Storr argues, benefits for the vulnerable need to be increased.

He also believes the budget should help slow price increases and keep the key interest rate low: “The problems mean the government will have to delay some campaign promises.”

Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vidum noted that the increase in prices in Norway was lower than in other countries, although it was also high in the country.

The Norwegian government began work on the 2024 budget on Sunday. Work will continue until August next year.
