Northwestern Iran hit by 4.1 magnitude earthquake

Today, Sunday, an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale occurred in the city of Salmas in the province of Western Azerbaijan in northern Iran.

According to the National Seismological Center of Tehran University, the earthquake occurred in the Azerbaijani city of Salmas at a depth of 6 km at 18:52 local time.

Amir Abbas Jafari, Director General of the Department of Emergency Situations of West Azerbaijan Province, said that immediately after the earthquake, ambulance teams left for the city of Salmas and its environs to assess the damage.

He confirmed that there were no reports of civilian casualties or damage to their property.
