Northern Irish fighter Tufts remains in custody for attempting to kill his girlfriend.

A court in Northern Ireland has denied bail to mixed martial artist Samuel Tufts after he was arrested for attempting to kill his girlfriend.

According to local media, the incident occurred last fall, when Tufts had a falling out with his girlfriend.

Tufts attacked his girlfriend before grabbing a bow to shoot an arrow at his girlfriend, who was behind a closed door.

Tufts later tried to suffocate his girlfriend, who passed out.

The girl miraculously survived to immediately go to the police, who arrested Tufts when he tried to escape in his car.

Tufts is charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and death threats.

The judge denied a bail request for Tufts, who was found to have mental problems.

Tufts had five fights in mixed martial arts, all of which he won.
