According to the Yonhap news agency, citing the South Korean military, North Korea launched a ballistic missile of an unknown nature towards the Sea of Japan.
No other launch details have been released.
This is the second launch in 24 hours since it fired two strategic cruise missiles from a submarine into waters off the east coast on Sunday in clear protest against South Korea and the United States holding regular joint military exercises.
North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said two missiles were launched from the 8.24 Yeongung submarine off Gyeongbu Bay in the East Sea during an underwater launch exercise at dawn on Sunday.
