Earlier this week, North Korea held a national conference of judicial officials for the first time in five years to discuss ways to uphold the country’s socialist laws.
The two-day Seventh National Congress of Judicial Workers opened in Pyongyang on Wednesday, which was attended by senior officials, including Chairman of the Standing Committee of the country’s Supreme People’s Assembly, Choi Ryong-hee, North Korea’s official central news agency reported.
“North Korea has analyzed and reviewed the state’s judicial work over the past five years since its sixth congress and discussed practical ways to improve and strengthen the current enforcement of socialist laws,” the agency said. The last meeting took place in October 2017.
She added that leader Kim Jong-un sent a message to the meeting, the details of which were not released.
