Newspaper: Kyiv fears Hungary’s recognition of Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea

Bohdan Gorobchuk wrote in Espresso that the content of the Hungarian geography course shows that Budapest does not agree with Ukraine’s position on the ownership of Crimea.

. added Goropchuk In their newspaper article, the authors of an eighth grade textbook in Hungary mention that the Carpathians are the only mountains in Ukraine, pointing out that Crimea is not mentioned in Ukraine.

The author of the article was also upset that the textbook explains in detail the features of Russia, its geographical characteristics, for example, it talks about Lake Baikal and others.

Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that a textbook had been published in Hungary, where the Carpathians, in particular, were called “the only high mountains” of Ukraine, which Kyiv considered an attempt to “deprive Ukraine of sovereignty over the Crimean mountains.”

As a result, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko demanded that Hungary correct what was stated in the geography textbook for the eighth grade.
