"New York Times": IAEA mission arrives at the Zaporozhye plant on August 31

The New York Times reported that an International Atomic Energy Agency mission of 14 experts left Vienna on Monday and will arrive at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant on Wednesday, August 31.

CNN previously reported that an International Atomic Energy Agency mission was in Kyiv, while UN sources said the mission would arrive at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant via Kyiv and Ukrainian-controlled territory.

Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi said he was on his way with a group of IAEA inspectors to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which Kyiv forces have repeatedly bombed in recent weeks.

He stressed that “the presence of the International Atomic Energy Agency will help stabilize nuclear safety at the station and reduce the risk of a serious nuclear catastrophe in Europe.”
