The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that on Friday 3 new shipments of grain were taken out of Ukraine, marking the start of a series of regular delivery cycles to agricultural markets following the signing of an international agreement in July.
The ministry said in a statement that three ships loaded with corn would go to Ireland, England and Turkey.
These vessels operate under the control of the Joint Coordination Center established in Istanbul in accordance with the terms of the international agreement signed in Istanbul on July 22.
Russia and Ukraine signed separate agreements. Turkey and the UN also initialed an agreement allowing grain exports from Ukraine, which has been halted by the war since February 24.
The Panamanian-flagged Navistar vessel left Odessa for Ireland with 33,000 tons of corn.
As for the Rezgin ship, which sails under the Maltese flag, it sailed to England from the port of Chernomorsk with a cargo of 13,000 tons.
During the night, the Coordination Center determined the destinations of the two ships, namely Rigaskede in Ireland and Teesport in England.
As for the Turkish cargo ship Polarent, which was also waiting at the berth of the port of Chornomorsk, it should head to Karasu, the Turkish port on the Black Sea, with 12,000 tons of corn.
The Turkish ministry said the ship will be “inspected by the joint inspection team in northern Istanbul” before it sails to Karasu.
