Netherlands. Farmers drive tank to sit-in to protest government policy

Protesting farmers in the Netherlands have taken a tank to a sit-in to protest the government’s environmental policies.

Dutch journalist Ken Bixte published a photograph of a tank used by the protesters.

The Dutch government is seeking to reduce emissions of polluting gases into the air, which threatens many Dutch farmers with bankruptcy and reduction in livestock.

Media reported that protesters surrounded the distribution centers of large retail chains and blocked roads in many areas, resulting in food shortages in some stores.

Trading networks have suffered losses amounting to tens of millions of euros, and the police have imposed fines on hundreds of protesting farmers.
