Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya accused Washington of using the illegal sanctions regime as a global tool to force opponents to do their will.
This happened during the discussion by the UN General Assembly of a draft resolution to lift the US embargo against Cuba.
Nebenzya added that Washington is trying to give the notorious “Monroe Act” a global dimension, as it tries to force opponents to submit to its will with its one-sided and illegal policy.
He emphasized that Cuba is a living example of political perversion and malice, which is practiced by the United States solely to achieve its narrow goals, which challenge the world order and undermine the foundations of peace and stability, ignoring geopolitical changes, human principles and values, and demanded the immediate lifting of illegal sanctions United States against him, and also called on Member States to support this decision.
He characterized the sanctions regime as economic terrorism and called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to pay great attention to international will and work to promote mechanisms for the implementation of General Assembly resolutions.
