Nebenzya calls on the West to return money to Afghanistan and confirms Moscow’s readiness to supply it with grain

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, confirmed that Russia is ready to help Afghanistan by supplying it with grain, and called on Western donors to return funds to Afghanistan without preconditions.

At a meeting of the UN Security Council, he said that it was extremely regrettable that illegal sanctions against Russia affected Russia’s cooperation with humanitarian organizations, “destroying the logistics and financial chains.”

Nebenzya stressed that “if necessary, we will be ready to help Afghanistan with grain supplies.”

Nebenzya also called on Western donors to return funds to Afghanistan to help normalize the humanitarian situation in the country without preconditions.

“We call on Western donors to stop speculating on the Afghan issue and return funds to the country and begin providing comprehensive assistance to normalize the socio-economic and humanitarian situation in the country without reservations and preconditions,” he added.

He noted that these countries bear the main burden of responsibility for the results of their 20-year presence in the country.
