Mystery surrounds the North Korean embassy in London… and its neighbors complain: Kim is spying on our bedrooms!

Residents living near the North Korean embassy in west London have expressed their concerns about surveillance and secrecy by the embassy after living in the neighborhood for two decades.

Unlike other embassies in the British capital, the location of Kim Jong-un’s embassy has been kept under wraps as it has been out of sight since it has been in the suburbs of Ealing for the past two decades.

The embassy is nestled between residential areas, parks and several sports clubs. Built in the 1920s, the seven-bedroom semi-detached house looks like a typical British family home.

Those who look at the house from the outside will find it very ordinary, with neatly trimmed bushes and a place to play basketball in the garden.

Residents of the house also wear smart clothes and are polite when approached by neighbors. They have barbeques and take out trays regularly.

But on closer inspection, CCTV cameras line up in every corner of the house, and a dark-black Mercedes with a diplomatic license plate is parked in the cobbled driveway.

“I sort of forgot they were there. I don’t know if they interacted or something like Halloween or whatever, I never noticed,” said one resident who lives on Embassie Street, where the median house price is £750,000.

Another said: “They are just normal, quiet people. This is the only thing I can say. They have a barbecue and we say hello when we see each other.”

Other local residents admitted that there were minor complaints from diplomats. One of them said, “We wouldn’t want them here… We were upset when they installed this big camera because we thought they could see us in the house. I feel like they can see what’s going on in my bedroom if they want to.”

He added: “We are not sure why the cameras are here. Everyone says they are for the road, but we don’t know for sure.”

Kim Jong-un’s regime maintains a reputation for extreme secrecy, censoring its citizens and allowing only a small number of visitors to cross its borders, while its embassy in the suburbs of Yiling remains far from other countries’ more luxurious embassies in the central part of the country. . London.

The unusual choice of location has allowed Pyongyang to save on exorbitant rent over the past 20 years, where most other countries’ embassies can be found.

And representatives of the North Korean embassy in London certainly live up to the label of “hermit nation”.
