Myanmar starts buying Russian oil products for rubles

Myanmar has announced that it has started buying Russian oil products, and in a few days will receive the first batch of diesel fuel, and will pay for the supplies in Russian rubles.

“Supplies of oil products from Russia to Myanmar are already being carried out successfully. In a few days, we will receive the first batch of diesel fuel from Russia,” Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Klein said during his participation in the Eastern Economic Forum.

He added: “As for the payment system, it will be according to what the Russian side offers, and this greatly simplifies our task, because in other currencies there are many restrictions on receiving and transferring.”

He explained that it would be better for Myanmar to pay for Russian energy resources, which it would buy in rubles.
