Moscow: US must withdraw its nuclear weapons from other countries

The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the United States to withdraw its nuclear weapons from third countries, especially from non-nuclear ones.

“US nuclear weapons must be transferred to their national territory,” Igor Vishnevitsky, Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control, said during the NPT Review Conference on Monday.

He pointed out that NATO brazenly declares itself a nuclear alliance, and that US nuclear weapons are located on the territory of non-nuclear countries, and they are training to use them.

Vishnevitsky stressed that this “is a factor that negatively affects security, increases the risk of nuclear conflict and impedes nuclear disarmament.”

The Russian official added that the US-UK-Australia Okos alliance “lays the groundwork for launching a new arms race episode in the Asia-Pacific region.”
