Moscow: US decision to impose duties on fertilizers from Russia will lead to an increase in food prices

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov expressed Moscow’s concern about the US decision to impose duties on Russian fertilizers, stressing that these measures will lead to higher food prices.

In a comment posted on the embassy’s Telegram channel, Antonov said: “Washington’s actions worry our country, which is interested in strengthening global food security. Once again, American commitment to stabilizing the global agro-industrial market appears to be an illusion.”

The diplomat stressed that Russian chemical companies “have been and intend to remain a reliable supplier of quality products at competitive prices.” “We know that the demand of farmers for our fertilizers in the United States is high,” the ambassador emphasized.

He added: “There are parallels with anti-Russian sanctions. Western countries are trying to convince the international community that the restrictions do not apply to our agricultural exports. At the same time, they are taking steps that lead, at a minimum, to a further rise in prices. As a result, the population and business suffer. Including the Americans.
