Moscow calls on the parties to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to show restraint

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow is calling on the parties to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to show restraint and return to a ceasefire.

Zakharova added: “Moscow is very concerned about the outbreak of a new round of armed violence in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Another escalation occurred as a result of Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip on August 5, and in response, Palestinian groups began indiscriminate and large-scale bombing of Israeli territory.

According to her, Russia is following with deep concern and believes that such a development of events “is fraught with the resumption of an all-out military confrontation and further deterioration of the already deplorable humanitarian situation in Gaza.”

“We call on all interested parties to exercise maximum restraint, prevent an escalation of hostilities and immediately return to a permanent ceasefire,” Zakharova added.
