Moroccan Sofiane Amrabat expressed his great joy at his participation in Manchester United’s match against Crystal Palace yesterday, Tuesday, in the third round of the English League Cup.

Sofian Amrabat started in the Red Devils’ shirt until the 61st minute after his side scored three goals at Old Trafford.

In post-match statements to British network Sky Sports, Amrabat said: “I think I enjoy touching the ball and holding it and I think I’m trying to give the team an extra opportunity and that was fine.”

Adapting to different positions

Regarding his play as a left-back, the Moroccan explained: “I play in the position where the coach needs me, whether it’s a midfielder or a left-back. I’m a midfielder and prefer midfield, but I play where the team needs me.”

Childhood dream come true

He added: “It’s been my childhood dream to play for Manchester United and I play where I can help the team, even as a goalkeeper. I play for the logo.”

Amrabat’s transfer to Manchester United

Notably, Sofian Amrabat joined Manchester United in the last summer transfer period, joining on loan from Italian club Fiorentina for £8.5 million, with a clause allowing the Red Devils to buy his contract permanently at Manchester United squad in the summer of 2024, for £21.5 million.
