Moldova Gas applied to Gazprom with a request to postpone the payment of advance payments for August and September of the current year until the end of the fourth quarter.
This was stated by the head of the Moldova Gas company, Vadim Shaiban, as the company is experiencing difficulties with the state regulator, which led to an increase in overdue debts, and the appeal for state support in the form of direct assistance from the state.
On October 29, 2021, Gazprom and Moldova Gas signed a gas supply contract for a period of 5 years, after lengthy negotiations, and gas supplies began on November 1, and taking into account the situation in Moldova, at that time it was decided to conclude a contract for conditions of the Moldovan side, subject to payment of current payments in 100% on the date of payment.
In November, there were problems in the republic with the transfer of payments on time, a delay was needed, and in January, Moldova Gas again faced difficulties in making payments to Gazprom, and the parliament declared a state of emergency for 60 days. The representative of “Gazprom” Sergei Kupriyanov expressed concern that the crisis of non-payments may repeat in the future.
