Minister of Defense of Ukraine refused to be appointed Minister of Strategic Industries

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Rezenkov said he had heard rumors about his appointment as Minister of Strategic Industries, and confirmed his opposition to the position.

And the ICTV Facts website quoted Resenkov as saying: “For the first time in my life I hear about a ministry called the Ministry of Strategic Industries, and if I receive a sudden offer from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or Prime Minister Denys Shmygal to take the post of Minister of Strategic Industries, I will refuse. Because it’s not legal.”

Resenkov explained that according to the Ukrainian constitution, only the president of Ukraine is authorized to decide on the dismissal of the defense minister, and there is no constitutional procedure for transferring the minister from his position to another, lower position. .

This happened in response to statements by deputies of the Ukrainian parliament representing the Servant of the People and the Voice parties about possible changes in the Ukrainian government that will affect a number of ministers, including Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.

The deputies pointed to the possibility of appointing Rezhenkov as Minister of Strategic Industries, and the head of Ukrainian intelligence, Kirill Budanov, as Minister of Defense.
