A fan-created impressive LEGO animation featuring a Glow Squid mob from Minecraft. Over the past ten years, many games have come and gone. Still, Minecraft has remained one of the most popular games, occasionally adding new items and enemies like the Glow Squid. Because of its popularity, many fans still create fan art using the creatures found in its procedurally generated worlds. A good example is this LEGO Glow Squid animation.

The passive mob known as the Glow Squid can be found in Minecraft’s watery areas. It’s interesting to note that it was included after winning a community vote to decide which new mob would be included in the game in 2020. As its name suggests, the Glow Squid has a shape resembling a squid but is more blocky. However, this mob emits bioluminescence, which distinguishes it from other types of squid in Minecraft and makes it quite beautiful to observe underwater.

Although one fan decided to create a stop-motion animation showing one in the real world, these creatures can be found in murky aquatic locations such as ocean depths, ravines, and underground lakes. On Reddit, they went by the handle Magpie Lullaby. They posted a video featuring a LEGO recreation of the aquatic mob. In the video, a transparent rod moving up and down was seen holding a Minecraft Glow Squid against a yellowish backdrop. The squid’s tentacles repeatedly moved inward and then outward as its entire body slowly rotated, adding to the animation’s realism.

Magpie Lullaby provided a little more information about how they animated the LEGO model in the comment section. The Reddit user clarified that no software was used to improve the animation, contrary to speculation that it had been to make the clip look sharper and reduce flicker. Magpie Lullaby claims that the only thing they did to lessen the number of shadows in the clip was to “duck under the table” they were animating. Whatever the methods employed, the animation has been well-received by the Minecraft community. It has received more than 3.4K upvotes in less than a day.

Other in-game mob news includes the announcement that camels would eventually be added to Minecraft during Mojang’s recent annual live event for the game. Additionally, the Sniffer was added to the list of creatures found in the procedurally generated worlds due to the most recent Minecraft mob vote. The LEGO animations that Magpie-Lullaby chooses to create based on these new mobs will be interesting to watch.
