Mexico strengthens the National Guard in the north of the country in connection with the resumption of unrest

Mexican federal officials have announced they are sending more National Guard and Attorney General forces to Baja California, which borders the United States, as unrest escalates there.

“The federal government will deploy public security forces to cities in northern Mexico in consultation with the National Guard and the Attorney General’s office, and the number of public security forces and their patrols have been increased on all streets of Tijuana to prevent unrest. ”, the Mexican Ministry of Security and Citizens Protection said in a statement following a meeting of the Council of Ministers of National Security in the state.

Authorities have recorded 24 crimes in Baja California since Friday, including burning personal and public vehicles and blocking roads.

Authorities managed to arrest 17 people who provoked and participated in the violence.
