Claudia Scheinbaum, the mayor of Mexico City, has announced that the world’s largest food market, Central de Abasto, will be covered in solar panels to become the city’s largest solar power plant.
“In the first phase of construction of the city’s largest solar power plant, 600 panels were installed,” Sheinbaum said on Twitter.
She added that the launch of this plant will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 790 tons.
The Russian solar power plant Arshan in Kalmykia is the largest power plant of this type in the Unified Energy System (UES) of Russia, with a capacity of 115.6 MW.
