Messi’s father settles dispute over return of flea to Barcelona

Argentine star Lionel Messi’s father and manager Jorge said on Thursday it was unlikely his son would return to play for Spain’s Barcelona two years after he left Camp Nou. for Paris Saint-Germain.

The 35-year-old Lionel Messi’s contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain expires next summer and he has yet to reach an agreement to extend his contract.

The Argentine star was forced to leave the Camp Nou stadium in the summer of 2021 after Barcelona were unable to renew his flea contract due to fair financial rules in the Spanish league.

Jorge showed up at Barcelona in the final hours, so Spanish newspapers predicted the possibility of Leo returning to the Camp Nou next season.

But Jorge said in statements to the Spanish newspaper Sport: “I don’t think Leo Messi will play for Barcelona again. We haven’t talked to Laporta and there are no offers from them.”

Asked if he would like his son to play for Barcelona again, Jorge said: “Life takes many turns.”

Notably, Lionel Messi entered the Barcelona Academy at the age of 13 to become one of the club’s legends and started his career with the first team in 2002 until the summer of 2021, and achieved 35 titles with him, scoring 672 goals in 778 matches for Blaugrana jersey in all competitions.
