Messi Unveils Reasons for Rejecting Al Hilal Offer and Barcelona Return, Reveals Next Team

Argentine star Lionel Messi has announced that he will move to American football club Inter Miami after his contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season (2022-2023).

The Argentine striker (35) has spent the past two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain and made his final appearance for the club last Saturday after moving from Barcelona in 2021, where he spent most of his football career.

Messi said in an interview with two newspapers, and Messi told the Spanish newspapers Diario Sport and Mundo Deportivo: “I decided to go to Miami, I don’t have (an agreement) 100% signed, or maybe there are things that need to do, but we decided to continue on our way there.” .

The Argentine star has said he doesn’t want to wait for Barcelona to find a formula to sign him, given the club’s financial situation which led to his departure.

He added: “I was afraid it would happen again. (I decided) to leave Europe, it’s true that I had offers from another European team, but I didn’t even think about it, because in Europe my idea was to go only to Barcelona.”

And the Argentine star continued: “After winning the World Cup and not being able to return to Barcelona, it’s time to go to Miami to live football differently and enjoy your daily life more.”

And he added: “I’m going with the same responsibility and desire to win, to do everything well, but with more calmness.”

He continued, “I was very happy to be back, but after my departure two years ago, I didn’t want to repeat the same situation and wait for what would happen and put my fate and future in the hands of others.”

The Argentine star emphasized that the financial factor did not matter in his decision, adding: “If it was about money, I would have gone to Saudi Arabia or somewhere else. I was offered a lot of money, but I chose Inter Miami.

He concluded by saying: “I am leaving Europe although I have received several offers from European teams but have not studied them because my goal in Europe is to return to Barcelona.

And about Busquets and Alba, who accompanied him to Inter Miami, he replied: “It was repeated that they said that they would be with me in Saudi Arabia, but they were discussing their future, and we never agreed to go to any club together, and I have made my own decision and I do not know what they will do.”

In recent days, reports have suggested Al Hilal Saudi Arabia’s growing interest in acquiring Messi, in addition to Barcelona’s efforts to get the flea back.

But Messi surprised everyone and decided to play for the American team, which is owned by England legend David Beckham.

And the Sport newspaper stated that Inter Miami would give Leo a contract for 4 seasons, while Al-Hilal only submitted an offer to Flea for two seasons.
