The Pravo – Judicial Bulletin newspaper reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky changed the provisions regarding the service of foreigners and stateless persons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Under the new rules, when a criminal case is initiated, a mercenary may be suspended from service for a period not exceeding two months.

“During the period of the special period for military personnel, they may be offered an extension of the term of military service under a new contract for a period of one to ten years, but on condition that it does not exceed the age limit for military service,” the document says. website of the President of Ukraine.

A foreign volunteer soldier who does not have Ukrainian citizenship is entitled to annual paid leave and medical treatment allowance. It will be possible to recall a foreigner or a stateless person from vacation only upon the announcement of mobilization, martial law or a state of emergency.

In early March, Zelensky announced that 16,000 foreign mercenaries were coming to fight in Ukraine.

In turn, the Russian Defense Ministry reported in mid-July that about 7.1 thousand people from 60 countries of the world came to fight in Ukraine, but later their number was reduced to about 2.7 thousand people.
