Algerian wrestler Celia Vikan presented her country with the first gold medal at the 19th Mediterranean Games Oran 2022.
Wickan’s coronation came at the expense of the Egyptian Salma Reem, after defeating her in a final fight that united them in karate.
The Algerian wrestlers expressed their joy at this achievement after the fight in statements to An-Nahar TV, saying: “It is an indescribable joy that came after much suffering and I thank the Algerian people who supported me in the hall today.”
