Media: Washington has no plans to supply Kyiv with ballistic missiles

U.S. sources have confirmed that Washington has no plans to supply Ukraine with ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles.

CNN, citing a source, said that Washington does not want to supply Kyiv with missiles with a range of about 300 km, which could give Ukraine the opportunity to strike at Russian territory and escalate the situation, noting that the maximum range of American weapons transferred to Ukraine does not exceed the current 78 km in time .

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal cited a list of requests filed with the US Congress that Ukraine had requested missiles to support offensive operations, with the list including 29 types of weapons, including HIMARS and Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

Earlier, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl said, “Our assessment is that they are not asking ATACMS to serve purposes directly related to the current combat.”

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stressed that the US position has not changed, noting that the HIMARS missiles are exceptional in terms of the ability of Ukrainians to serve the targets they need inside their territory.
