Media: Congress approved a new package of assistance to Ukraine

Reuters reported, citing informed sources, that members of Congress have approved a new $12 billion aid package for Ukraine, which is included in a government program funding bill.

Earlier this month, US President Joe Biden asked Congress to approve $11.7 billion to provide a new package of economic and financial assistance to Ukraine.

Sources told Reuters that in response to Biden’s request, members of Congress agreed during their consultations to include the package in a bill to urgently fund a number of government programs.

A source who asked not to be named said the bill also includes funding for the resettlement of Afghan refugees.

And Congress must ratify the above bill no later than midnight next Friday.
