Bloomberg reported, citing a source in the Brazilian president, that the president is considering forcibly returning former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro to the country if he does not return voluntarily at the end of March next year.
The agency quoted senior presidential adviser Luiz Inácio Lulu da Silva as saying the Brazilian president wants to take Bolsonaro to court in the coming months.
The Federal Supreme Court launched an investigation into Bolsonaro amid the issue of unrest in the country and the storming of government buildings by protesters against Bolsonaro’s defeat in the January 8 presidential election.
And if Bolsonaro is convicted in this case, he could be stripped of his right to run in the next presidential election.
It is worth noting that Bolsonaro left Brazil and headed to the United States before the official expiration of his term. He did not attend Lula da Silva’s inauguration as the country’s new president.
