Mayor of London: Britain faces "national disaster"

London Mayor Sadiq Khan called the decision to raise UK energy prices a “national disaster”.

And according to what Khan posted on his Twitter account, he stressed that the United Kingdom is facing a “national catastrophe” due to the continued increase in the energy price ceiling if the government does not act quickly.

“Today’s price cap announcement confirms what many of us have long feared, despite repeated warnings: the government has consistently failed to intervene and ministers must act now to prevent this cost-of-living crisis from becoming a national disaster,” he wrote.

So far, the British Gas and Electricity Markets Authority has announced a 54% increase in the energy price ceiling to £3,549 ($4,194) a year from 1 October.
