Bakary Cisse, an agent for former Liverpool striker Sadio Mane, has denied reports of the Teranga Lions captain’s decision to leave for Bayern Munich because his salary at Anfield was low.
Mane joined Bayern Munich during the current summer transfer period, after 6 years at Liverpool, in a deal worth around £32m.
Several press reports indicated that the 30-year-old Manet was on very low wages at Liverpool and that he left because the English club refused his financial demands.
Bakary Cissé, public relations agent for Sadio Mane, responded to French TV channel TV5Monde’s reports by saying: “What was raised about Mane’s salary at Liverpool was very low, it was nothing but false rumors that we didn’t want to talk. about.”
He explained, “A player with Sadio’s weight cannot get the salary that people are talking about and the numbers being circulated are completely wrong.”
Bakary Cisse concluded: “Sadio was already earning more than stated when he joined Liverpool in 2016 from Southampton and then extended his contract in 2018 to receive a much higher salary.”
Mane has received an annual salary of up to £200,000 a week since renewing his contract with the Reds in 2018 and became Liverpool’s highest earner with Egyptian star Mohamed Salah before Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk became the highest paid player : £220,000 per week.
According to the British newspaper The Sun, Mane will receive a £250,000 weekly salary at Bayern Munich, who are the eighth-highest-paid player at the Bayern club next season.
