Manchester United’s Andre Onana Takes Responsibility for Champions League Defeat to Bayern Munich

Manchester United Goalkeeper Andre Onana Takes Responsibility for Defeat to Bayern Munich

Manchester United’s Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana said he was responsible for their 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the opening group stage of the Champions League yesterday, Wednesday.

Mistake Costs Manchester United Momentum

The Red Devils started well at the Allianz Arena but lost momentum after Leroy Sane scored Bayern’s first goal as Onana made a mistake in collecting the ball and the ball clipped into the net in the 28th minute.

Struggles for Onana at Manchester United

The Cameroonian goalkeeper excelled at Inter Milan and contributed to the team’s run to the Champions League final last season, but has struggled in recent weeks early in his career at Manchester United, where he joined for $58 million.

Historic Defeat for Manchester United

Manchester United conceded three or more goals in three matches in a row for the first time since 1978.

Onana Takes Responsibility

Onana told TNT Sports after Manchester United lost to Bayern: “After my mistake we lost control of the match. It’s a difficult situation for us, especially for me because I was the one who let the team down.”

Onana’s Disappointment

Onana added: “My start in Manchester was not very good. I don’t want to play like that.”

He added: “Today (yesterday) was one of my worst matches and it’s difficult because we have big ambitions and we want to win everything. It was a great opportunity for us to come back from the situation we faced.”

Learning from Mistakes

“This is a difficult time,” Onana continued. “We have to be together and learn from our mistakes, because that’s the only thing that can be done.”
