Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag expressed displeasure and disappointment after his team’s 4-0 defeat to Brentford yesterday, Saturday, in the second round of the English Premier League.
“I have to give an explanation,” Ten Hag said after the match. “Obviously the level was very bad and when you make mistakes like that, you can’t win the match.”
“It’s about taking charge on the pitch. You cannot make such mistakes. We have to deal with disappointment and have more faith on the pitch.”
And he added: “You have to prepare for the match and fight both individually and in a group. We must push each other. What we did was not good. Obviously we need players, but I don’t want to think about that right now. The good players we had should have played better.”
“I was hoping we would have a better start but I will keep believing that I will see something good but what we did in the first two matches was disappointing.”
Brentford managed to score their four goals in the first half thanks to Belinda Joshua Da Silva, Matthias Janssen, Ben May and Brian Mbiomo in the 10th, 17th, 30th and 35th minutes respectively.
And the sports statistics network Opta reported that Brentford became the third team to score four goals against Manchester United in the first half of a Premier League game, after Tottenham Hotspur in October 2020 and Liverpool in October 2022.
