The family of Islamic preacher and advocate Malcolm X said they would sue the NYPD and other agencies, including the Central Intelligence Agency and the FBI, for his 1965 murder.

His daughter, Eliza Shabaz, announced the planned lawsuit at a press conference from the site where her father was shot to death in New York 58 years ago, stressing that U.S. officials fraudulently withheld evidence suggesting they “conspired and carried out their plan of murder.” her father.

Benjamin Crump, a lawyer representing the family, said at a press conference that powerful figures in the US government conspired to kill Malcolm X. In his speech, he mentioned former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover by name.

Crump said Malcolm X’s family intends to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking damages of about $100 million.

He added: “It’s not just about the three parties… It’s about those who conspired with criminals to commit this treacherous act.”

Eliza Shabazz, now 60, was two years old when she saw her father get shot. About 21 shots were fired at him by three armed men as he prepared to speak at a hall in Harlem.

Malcolm X was the main spokesman for the Nation of Islam, which advocated secession for black Americans, but he later broke with it. He was 39 years old when he was killed.
