The Lugansk People’s Republic announced that Ukrainian forces burned down wheat fields and granaries as they retreated from advancing Russian forces in retaliation.
“Our troops successfully drove the fascists out of the city of Volchyarovka, from where they fled towards Seversk and set fire to grain fields along the way,” said Vitaly Kiselev, Assistant Minister of the Interior of the Luhansk Republic.
He added that Ukrainian forces are using helicopters for this purpose, and that a similar incident took place in the town of Rubinje, where “Ukrainian forces fired on a grain elevator, causing it to burn down.”
“It was a strategic reserve for the cities of Rubina, Sferodonetsk, Lysechansk, Krasny Liman and nearby villages,” he added.
He said Ukrainian forces “are using the same tactics in the Donetsk People’s Republic.”
