Liverpool end controversy over Salah’s future

Liverpool FC announced on Friday the signing of a new long-term contract with its Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.

The English club wrote on its Twitter account: “Liverpool Football Club is pleased to announce that Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

“After helping Liverpool achieve the double of the English League and FA Cups, Salah dedicated his future to the Reds by renewing his contract on Friday.”

Salah said: “I feel great and I’m excited to win more trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone. Finally he got everything done.”

Salah’s old contract with Liverpool expires on 30 June 2023, and the two sides have been in long and arduous negotiations in recent months for his renewal, before reaching an agreement on Friday.

Salah has scored 156 goals in 254 appearances for Liverpool in various competitions since joining him in 2017 from Roma.
