Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that European countries have “decreased appetite” for expanding sanctions against Russia.
Commenting on the possibility of the European Union imposing new sanctions against Russia, Landsbergs said in a statement to German media network Deutsche Welle: “I think the appetite for more sanctions has waned. Many European countries look with concern at the coming winter, when they talk about the prices of gas and energy resources.
“But I think it won’t be as bad as they expect. I hope that we can return to the growing pressure on Russia when we see that Europe is able to cope with the energy situation. .”
Regarding the transfer of goods to the Russian Kaliningrad region, which has imposed restrictions on the EU, the Lithuanian minister stressed that his country wants Brussels to stick to its original position, noting that Europe is forced to compromise on this issue.
